A beautiful early Australian Colonial brooch from Mid-Victorian era crafted in yellow gold. This statement piece features fine chasing with hand-engraving of a large vine leaves and knotted tendrils with a central flower in bloom set with natural pearls. The front of the brooch is hinged to reveal a double sided glass locket showcasing the original hand-painted portrait of a gentleman. This versatile piece can be worn as a pendant or a brooch, fitted with a collapsible bail and secured with a pin, hook catch and safety chain. Possibly made by Lamborn and Wagner of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Please note, this piece has a rich history and has been worn with love, and with age, there are minor spots of discolouration to the bloomed finish. These small imperfections do not affect the beauty of this gorgeous piece of wearable art.
