The Carina Nebula is a star forming region located 7,500 light-years from Earth. In the 1830s-1850s there was a spectacular outburst of light from the Eta Carinae double star within the nebula. Some of this light was diverted through space dust and has now become visible to astronomers who have captured a light echo from that great outburst. The light has been captured as a display of blue, green and red colour.
