A Victorian full hunter pocket watch made by The Waltham Watch Company, marked ‘A.W. Co. Waltham’ on the dial. Featuring an engraved yellow gold case with an enamel white dial with black Roman numerals and spade hands. Positioned at the six-o-clock is a second counter dial and single black hand. The inner case is stamped Warranted 14k US Assay with case number 04736. The movement number is stamped 2308262 with AM Watch Co, Hillside, Waltham, AM, Mass. Fitted with a traveller lever movement, in good working order but is not calibrated. Please note, to set the time on this watch, pull out the set lever positioned at the number four and use the crown to adjust the time.

The provenance of this pocket watch is known, as it was purchased from a direct descendant of the original owner. This pocket watch belonged to Lieutenant Commander Arthur Trevenen Coode of Trevarthia, United Kingdom. He co-owned a property with the Duke of Cornwall and later King George V. During the years 1898-1901, Arthur was a first-class cricketer for Middlesex. A well-respected engineer and author in his community, he also served as the County Magistrate in the division of East Powder and a Justice of the Peace. He served in the Royal Navy and was deployed to the Mediterranean and Russia in 1916-1918. Returning from the war, he resided for many years in Cornwall.
